Web Security Testing Workflow
Overview
Specialized workflow for testing web applications against OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities including injection attacks, XSS, broken authentication, and access control issues.
When to Use This Workflow
Use this workflow when:
- Testing web application security
- Performing OWASP Top 10 assessment
- Conducting penetration tests
- Validating security controls
- Bug bounty hunting
> Mandatory confirmation gate
> Before running any command that probes, exploits, changes, persists on, extracts data from, or attempts credential access against a target:
> 1. Ask the user to state the exact target URL, IP, account, or resource.
> 2. Ask the user to confirm written authorization and the permitted scope.
> 3. Show the exact command(s) and explain their expected effect.
> 4. Wait for explicit confirmation in the current conversation.
>
> Without that confirmation, remain read-only and provide defensive guidance only. Prefer a sandbox, disposable VM, or controlled lab.
Authorized assessment scope
Establish test window, request limits, excluded paths and stop conditions in addition to the mandatory per-command gate above. Bug-bounty participation alone does not authorize every listed test. Use synthetic accounts/data and non-destructive probes; credential stuffing, brute-force, stored payloads and automated scanners require explicit scope. Stop on instability or unexpected sensitive data, retain only redacted minimal evidence, and report untested areas instead of marking full coverage.
